Re: Balance…
If you purchase the CD, you will also have the opportunity to download the Digital Album and get some instant gratification while yer waiting for the postman.
Either way, if you're getting a download, it will be served up as a 'zip' file with all those juicy MP3s stuffed inside.
Do not attempt to download via smartphone. Please use a computer!
Re: Balance...
Wow. Four records (...er 'CDs' nobody calls them 'records' anymore, right?) Balance is my first record of all brand new stuff; ie. not material I was working on in private discontent for years and years. This material was written almost entirely in my new (and improved) role as full time musician in a brand new millenium.
The themes on this CD are something near and dear to my heart: finding a way to be whole and not always divided. Who knew it would take almost half a century? The various characters in this little drama all epitomize that most Irish of sayings, 'Hope for the best; expect the worst; take what comes.' Everyone here ('everyone' being me of course) is having a tough time seeing a way to get from the way things are to the way things ought to be.
I've been accused of being pessimistic, but I'd rather think that I am confident that things can be better. What sounds like a constant dissatisfaction with now is really my attempt to avoid complacency so that things are better later. If that makes any sense.
As per usual, every sound was played by me on my (increasingly) old guitars and basses, drums, mandolins, bouzoukis, ukeleles, banjos, whistles, bodhrán, etc.
Mixing was done here at home (ahhh... 'home' what a lovely word!) in rainy Seattle during the Winter of 2005.
I welcome your comments and suggestions and please do check back here often. I guarantee a regular supply of new (and hopefully interesting) things for "your dining and dancing pleasure."
Thanks for stopping by.
