Eddie Powell Bass
An African American from the deep south. Initially, the part time handyman for the Cahills and the same age as Grandfather. After the war he becomes an auto worker. We see him at age seventy throughout as our one man Greek Chorus.
Grandfather LiamBaritone
An Irish immigrant who has made his fortune in the newspaper business. We see him as a man in his 20’s who ages to 75 in the final act.
Grandmother LilianSoprano
Liam’s wife. An eastern European immigrant of taciturn disposition.
DonaldBaritone
Liam’s son. A struggling local businessman, trying to make a killing in a plan to renovate the neighborhood.
GrandsonTenor
Donald’s teenage son. He joins a band with Johnny.
StanleyTenor
A Polish American auto worker and the second owner of the house.
IreneAlto
Stanley’s wife.
Mrs. LittleAlto
A schoolteacher and the daughter of Eddie Powell. The third owner of the house.
JohnnyTenor
Mrs. Little’s son and Grandson’s best friend. Talented, but frustrated.
