An African American from the deep south. Initially, the part time handyman for the Cahills and the same age as Grandfather. After the war he becomes an auto worker. We see him at age seventy throughout as our one man Greek Chorus.
An Irish immigrant who has made his fortune in the newspaper business. We see him as a man in his 20’s who ages to 75 in the final act.
Liam’s wife. An eastern European immigrant of taciturn disposition.
Liam’s son. A struggling local businessman, trying to make a killing in a plan to renovate the neighborhood.
Donald’s teenage son. He joins a band with Johnny.
A Polish American auto worker and the second owner of the house.
A schoolteacher and the daughter of Eddie Powell. The third owner of the house.
Mrs. Little’s son and Grandson’s best friend. Talented, but frustrated.
