We all gotta have it. As you may have noticed, I’ve been redoing the site; mainly this has been after complaints about the speed. It had gotten pretty durned pokey. And while at it, we made a couple of other changes. So…

A couple of announcements:
1. The whole Freebie download thing is much easier now. So for those of you who want something for nothing? You have to do even less of that nothing. If such a thing is even possible.

2. If you purchase individual songs directly, they are now a one-click buy if you use PayPal. No forms to fill out or goofy logins. So it’s as easy as iTunes or Amazon and you get CD audio quality instead of that compressed stuff.

I promise we’re nearing the end of non-musical non-sense for a while. I’m eager to get back to music now that we’ve wrapped up the logistics of the new site. There may be one more such post—concerning rendering musical samples of Detroit, but that should give one heart that we’re finally getting ’round to crankin’ out some tunes, dude!

…one of my fave lines from pretty much any horror or action movie. From Lost In Space to Goldfinger, the bad guy always gets to say that. And I love it every time. (BTW: I’ve been re-watching the Brit TV series House Of Cards and I gotta say, if you want to see the classic Shakespearean-style bad guy, no one could touch Ian Richardson’s Francis Urquhart.)

About an hour after I raised the flag on the new site, the complaints began to creep in. Complaints that seem a bit like body odor. No one wants to mention it, but… And the rancidness you were experiencing seemed to exude most from those machines still running Internet Explorer.

In my arrogance; surrounded by geeky Seattle which knows better than to use IE, I felt comforted in ignoring the possibility of quirks with the Redmond Browser. I did not feel the massive gravity which would compel a web designer anywhere else in the world to double and triple-check his work against the most popular browser on this here planet.

But nooooooooooo… I hate IE. So I ignore IE. And if you have problems with IE? I scoff and point you towards Firefox or Chrome. Or even ‘Opera’. In short? I am a snob. Due for a comeuppance.

The Hills Are Alive

First I want to mention the new design. My main goal in this re-design was that the site should better reflect what the music is ‘about’.

Life is getting slower. At least on the vast Interweb. And I blame those diabolical Swedes.

Now every few years we go through these cycles of ‘reach’ vs. ‘grasp’. For a while, ‘hardware’ rules. Life is zippy. Pundits bitch about how our computers are ‘under-utilised’ and bemoan the ‘boredom’ of software. Then we go through a phase where there’s all this new, trés cool software which leaves our various devices gasping; and us waiting. Sadly, we’re going through one of the latter phases now.
